Keto Cheesy Apple and Sausage Pie
A perfect casserole for apple season with a keto crust! This recipe satisfies it all whether you are in the mood for sweet or savory. It is the ultimate fall dish to enjoy with family or guests. This simple and delicious cheesy apple and sausage pie recipe is low carb, keto, gluten-free, and busy-mom approved!
I started making this recipe when I began dating my husband. We would go apple picking every year and I would make this out of tradition for dinner that night.
We would then eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner…and as a snack in between! It really is that good! I haven’t stopped making this and have now included our kids in the fall food fun.
The only thing I did different this year was make this pie keto friendly. Both my husband a kids said this was the best version of my cheesy apple and sausage pie. I’ll take it! This fall pie is healthy comfort to the core. Every bite will remind you why this season is such a fabulously delicious time of the year.

Keto Cheesy Apple and Sausage Pie

Ingredients
For the keto crust
- 1½ cups almond flour
- ¼ cup sugar replacement (I used Swerve) , I used Swerve
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoon butter, melted
For the filling
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- ½ cup red onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon sugar replacement
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded Italian cheese mix
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
Instructions
For the keto crust
- In a medium bowl, whisk together almond flour, sweetener, and salt. Stir in melted butter until dough comes together.
- Turn out into a glass pie plate. Press firmly with fingers into bottom and up sides. Prick all over with a fork before baking.
- Preheat oven to 325F. Bake until edges are golden brown, about 20 minutes.
For the filling
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add apples, onions, and sweetener. Cook stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes.
- Add in the garlic powder and transfer to a separate bowl.
- Add the sweet Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until sausage is cooked through and browned. Remove from heat.
- In a medium sized bowl, mix together the cheeses and beaten eggs.
- Place the sausage on the bottom of the pre-baked keto crust. Add the cooked apple and onion mixture over the sausage.
- Pour the cheese egg mixture on top and spread it so it evenly covers the pie.
- Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
