Ingredients for English muffin pizzas
Originally inspired by our childhood favorite, pizza bagel bites – this recipe can be cooked in the oven or toaster oven. Also like their originator, you can freeze these and save for later! Whether winter themed or summer inspired, the ingredients for English muffin pizzas resemble that of a classic pizza. Like a hybrid of pizza bagel bites and your standard pizza. Completely versatile and personalized, this recipe will hopefully bring inspiration to you and all the goodness that can happen from combining sauce, cheese and toppings onto an English muffin.
- English Muffins. This is considered the pizza crust. I recommend using whole grain English muffins with as few processed ingredients and added sugars as possible. Our go-to is Dave’s Killer Bread Classic English Muffins.
- Sauce. Any kind of pizza sauce you like! I used our all-time favorite pasta sauce, Classico Organic Pasta Sauce for this recipe. A red sauce would be the most preferable for holiday purposes. However in the past, we have used Alfredo, barbecue, cilantro cream sauces…the list really does go on here and that’s what I love about these pizzas! There are so many options out there AND the sauce…because I love allll the sauces!
- Cheese. For this recipe, you will want to make your English Muffin Pizzas with fresh mozzarella. The best kind is the one that is already sliced into rounds, making it easier with the food cutters.
This recipe is super easy, so it’s a fun way to involve your kids in the kitchen—especially helpful if you are making English muffin pizzas for little ones, they’ll definitely be taking a bite or two! I can guarantee that they will love creating their own wonderland scene and then enjoying the simple deliciousness. We used a snowman and star stamper for these pizzas. I could totally see adding fresh basil to form a Christmas tree! The sky is the limit here.
I will admit, the food stampers as beautiful as they are – will not stay so detailed when you place them in the oven. I was super pushed for time with this recipe as we were enjoying them in the car on the way to an appointment.
Let’s just say for giggles that I had the time. I may add a few details to these festively delicious winter themed English muffin pizzas. Olives and carrots for the snowman’s eyes and nose, fresh basil for a tree. That’s the beauty here. You can make these deliciously easy English muffin pizzas as elaborate as you see fit, or as simple as you see here and the delivery is going to reward you a 100 percent in satisfaction.
How to make winter English muffin pizzas
For ease, I pre-toast the English muffins, add the toppings, and then fully bake them all on the same baking sheet. This is one-sheet cooking at its finest and y’all know that I love a good one-sheet recipe! Once you’ve toasted your English muffins, you are ready to add sauce, fresh mozzarella winter cut-outs to top and bake! Simply…
- spread the toasted English muffins with your sauce of choice.
- place winter cut-outs on top and sprinkle with additional cheese (to resemble snow).
- bake the English Muffin Pizzas at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the English muffins are lightly golden at the edges.
- use a tooth pick to reform the melted mozzarella cheese. These will not be perfect, but they sure look fun and taste amazing.
