ingredients

To make these easy and delicious heart-shaped rice krispie treats you’ll need a few ingredients that you can get at almost any grocery store or even online!

Here’s what we are working with:

  • Rice Krispies cereal
  • butter
  • mini marshmallows
  • vanilla extract
  • cookie cutter – I used a heart shape cookie cutter when I made these for Valentine’s Day. You can use any cookie cutter you see fit for the occasion. Or simply opt to keep these Rice Krispie treats as bars.
  • sprinkles, optional
  • cooking spray

how to make festive Rice Krispie treats

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.

Add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir until completely melted and well combined. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Remove the saucepan from heat and add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.

Coat a large spatula or spoon with cooking spray to prevent sticking (or coat your fingers with water) and press the mixture firmly into a greased 9×9-inch baking pan. Add sprinkles to the top if using.

Allow the mixture to cool and set for about 30 minutes. Once cooled, use a cookie cutter to cut out rice krispie treats in the desired shape. For the leftover pieces, simple place into the cookie cutter to make more of the shape.

Feel free to get creative and decorate the treats with icing, sprinkles, or chocolate drizzle for an extra special touch.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do. It’s definitely one of those recipes worth saving. There’s nothing better than having what looks and tastes like a gourmet dessert on the table, but one that saves you time behind the scenes.
