The highest compliment I’ve had paid to me came from my husband a few weeks ago while the kids and I were out of town. He ordered take-out from one of our favorite restaurants and was excited to see that they had Nashville hot chicken on the menu.

Nashville hot chicken is a family favorite! He ordered it. He said that it was really, really good; then came the pause.

“But, it was nothing in comparison to your recipe.”

The honest to goodness truth is that my recipe is so incredibly easy!! There is no breading or frying! And it produces better than restaurant quality right in the comfort of your own home.

This is THE recipe for the best way to cook chicken thighs! You will never go wrong with this immensely flavorful and delicious Nashville hot chicken recipe.

Where do you get the best chicken thighs?

I get my chicken thighs from Butcher Box. It’s my favorite chicken thighs by far. You can tell it is amazing quality. Also, love that it comes delivered right to my doorstep. One less trip to the grocery store always helps! It comes frozen and individually packaged. It’s super easy to thaw and prepare when it comes to meal prep. ButcherBox chicken thighs comes with the skin on which we are huge fans of–hello crispiness! Although you can absolutely opt for boneless, skinless chicken thighs for this recipe.

How do you get the crispiest chicken thighs?

The secret to the extra crisp on the chicken, is the timing of the sauce being added to it. You will want to add in the sauce right at the last minute and drizzle it over the chicken. Adding it at the last minute be ensure it doesn’t soften the crisp!

Instructions

  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season on all sides with 1 teaspoon of the sea salt. (You can choose to debone the chicken thighs for this recipe).
  • Place the chicken thighs skin-side down in a large dutch oven. I recommend a dutch oven for this recipe because of the high sides to reduce spatter and increase crispiness.
  • Turn the heat to medium. Cook undisturbed, about 10 minutes, until the skin is golden and crispy, using tongs to move the thighs around the pan ensure even browning. Let go for 5-6 additional minutes. Flip thighs over to skin side up and cook at medium-low temperature for 4-6 minutes. Set aside on a plate.
  • Meanwhile, place 4 tablespoons butter, Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning, garlic powder and salt in a small microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high until melted, about 40 seconds.
  • Drizzle the sauce over the chicken and serve with your side of choice!
